Last Tuesday 29th of April, the XXIII edition of ‘La Nariz de Oro’ took place in Madrid. The wine experts chose Balancines among the best red wines with less than 9 months of aging. This means that this red wine, elaborated with Tempranillo and Syrah, has ranked for the National Final of the Best Wines from Spain, to be held this coming June in Madrid.

A total of 26 wines were selected in six different categories: white, pink, red with less than nine months of aging, red with over nine months of aging, sweet and fortified. 

The list of wines in the red category with less than nine months of aging were: Balancines 2012 (Pago los Balancines winery. VT Extremadura); Jean Leon 3055 Merlot Petit Verdot 2013 (Jean Leon winery. Penedès); Ebeia Roble 2013 (Portia winery. Ribera del Duero); Phylos 2010 (Blas Serrano winery. Ribera del Duero); Sed 2012  (D Cueva winery. VT de Monegros).

The ability of the sommeliers, as well as the quality of the participanting wines, were recognized by a panel of experts composed of: Clara Canals, Azpilicueta winemaker; Esther Ibanez and Beatriz Sanchez from La Nariz de Oro organization; José Joaquin Cortés, 2012 Nariz de Oro and Sofia Magana, General Manager of La Nariz de Oro.
